bunco and bathtime fun!

Today was a pretty rushed day........I just couldn't seem to get my feet under me and continue at a steady pace!

This morning I made snickerdoodle cookies while the kids watched Toy Story, and I messed around on the computer.

This afternoon I read a blog about a friend of mine with young kids who needed some help, so the kids and I packed up everything that I had in my pantry and freezer that was backstocked and brought some goodies over to her. Matthew was cute, he asked if we were having a BBQ over there since we were loading up all the food?
I told him No that it was for our friends, of course he asked why.........it was the perfect opportunity to explain to him that sometimes our friends need our help, and so we do what we can to help them! I hope that he may never know about any of our financial struggles as he grows, but if he does figure out that things were tough, I hope that the lessons we teach him about being giving and caring people to our fellow friends and neighbors are what he remembers the most.
My favorite part of the whole thing, is when we went to the door, and when my friend opened it, he piped up with "We brought grocceries!" and held up his little bag that he carried.......he was so happy and carefree as he ran off to play with my friends little boy! children are so innocent and and untarnished by the selfish acts of the world, it inspires me every day!

speaking of innocent children, tonight was the bunco fundraiser for little Presley for the JDRF walk....I am so glad that I got to go (Thanks to Katies Husband David agian!!) visit with friends, make some new ones, and learn to play bunco! but most of all I'm glad that all of the ladies that made it were there for all of the Presley's in our world, I pray that we might find a cure in her little lifetime, and am very proud to have been a part of supporting that cure, a big thankyou to all of the ladies who made it out tonight, and anyone who has donated to Presleys team (Presley's Blue Suede Shoe Crew).......I know it means alot to them!

and now for the nightime tales of some not so innocent children, my own!!!!!
I came home this evening and promtly put my two little munchkins in the shower to get them all squeeky clean for church tomarrow. My exact instuructions were " get in, get wet, use one ONLY ONE pump of soap and clean your whole body and I will be back in a second to help with your hair" I left to grab towels and ended up talking to daddy on the cell phone for about 10-15 min. This is usually not a big deal, I leave the door open and the kids are normally very good about washing, taking turns and playing for a bit in the water untill I get back It's one of my PERKS of having older children that I truely enjoy :)
When I got off the phone with thier daddy, I walked back toward the bathroom in time to see a big blue leggo go flying out of the shower and into the hallway "WHAT THE HE........" my sentence was stoped short, as was I when I got to the door of the bathroom....... there covered in about 1/4 -1/2 an inch of water was my bathroom floor littered with leggos, an old camara, some little people plastic things, and did I mention water? and staring back at me with that deer in the headlights look were two very naked little children holding a soaking, sopping wet stuffed animal in each of thier hands!
As soon as they saw me, they started to chuck stuff out of the bathtub and onto the floor, I think they were hoping if it wasn't in the shower by the time I took my last two steps mabey there was a chance they could still get out alive??
"STOP!" "Put it all back in the shower!"
I didn't say a word as I washed thier hair amidst cries of "are you mad at us?" and "mommy we are sorry!"
I got them both out of the tub and dried off and sent to get ready for bed. when everyone was dressed we had a littel "chat" about what the hell they thought they were doing, and the possability that the stuffed animals they had soaked might have to be thrown away (mind you two of these animals were ones my son sleeps with, one of them was Bunny from the Aspergers post!)
Of course that kicked of the whining and tears and crys about "loving bunny" which I countered with lessons about "caring for, and making good choices about the things that we love"
after all was said and done I tucked my kids in bed and now I have a stuffed animal drying camp on my couch, and a newly mopped bathroom floor...........KIDS!

I'm off to go to bed and get ready for church and class tomarrow, I'm teaching alone and watching kids in the evening, which has led to some frustrations, but that is another post for another night!
